Ibiza Virgins' Guide: Solo travellers

Because you're never alone on the White Isle.

Getting the holiday plans out of a group and into existence can be an arduous task; last-minute dropouts, life dramas, and commitment issues mean your dream holiday could remain just that.

Here at Ibiza Spotlight, we're always game for an unaccompanied jaunt to incredible destinations. After all, what's life without an adventure, or without the experience of Ibiza…at least just once?

With that in mind, here is our guide to nailing the solo mission. From the vital preparation to bagging a holiday bestie, and of course, ensuring you have the absolute time of your life.

Before we go on, just a little reminder to follow our Ibiza Spotlight Instagram channel and our events calendar, both of which are updated daily with the island's latest news and events.

Essential Preparation

Pre-game preparation is key, so when you jump online to order your summer outfits, you may want to check out our Ibiza Spotlight Forum. A goldmine for getting connected to fellow clubbers who hold the island as close to their hearts as you do, the forums are an invaluable source of information from those who know the island inside out.

You’ll even find a Meet me in Ibiza thread, where fellow solo singles share invitations and events they’d prefer to join forces for.

Choosing where to stay

Unfortunately, the world over, single people are charged for the privilege of having the whole bed to themselves. So, the first thing to establish is the cash you have to splash on yourself.

If a more budget-friendly option is for you, the choices are still comfortable, clean, and often close to all the amenities you’d want for your trip.

We could get into the nitty gritty of each resort here, but your best bet is to read our Ibiza Virgins Guide on where to stay in Ibiza, and go from there.

If it’s more about the style of dream holiday you want, then we have that covered too. Maybe boutique, relaxing, clubby, or even treat yourself with a little luxury? Probably the most important, however, because who wants to be disturbed by wailing children and the pitter-patter of tiny feet, is the island's adults-only accommodation.

Solomon add on 528 Ibiza 2024

The 528 Ibiza open-air dancefloor

Party for one

Yes, the islands' super clubs are incredible experiences, with pumping dancefloors to lose yourself on, solo or otherwise. However, if you’re on your own, then the daytime parties and smaller venues may feel a little less intimidating. They tend to have more of a sociable vibe to them, where conversations and new dancing partners can easily be made.

Las Dalias and Akasha have this nailed. All week, they offer incredible parties, attracting equally laid-back and authentic crowds as the venue itself.

528 Ibiza is this summer's darling, and rightly so. You’ll feel super comfortable on the bright and beautiful alfresco dancefloors, and its huge range of parties always attracts a diverse bunch to dance alongside.

Cova Santa also gets our vote. Its party schedule is second to none, and the venue amplifies an incredible energy that's ingrained within its walls.

Sundara Ibiza is already getting a name for itself as San Antonio Bay's home for solo travellers. They've lined up huge names for their modest dancefloor, which always delivers a cosy house party vibe. A special welcome is reserved for solos who will be escorted to their own designated area to meet like-minded hedonists.

For the friendliest night of the summer, make sure to land in Ibiza at the same time as The Kevin & Perry Experience, at Amnesia on Tuesday, 23 September. Open arms and open hearts will welcome you onto the dancefloor for this annual reunion of old-school ravers.

It's also worth mentioning boat parties here. The party atmosphere that’s created on these tiny vessels is electric, where the cool DJ beats match the hot sunbeams, to deliver a blinding afternoon out. Everyone's up for it, so you won’t be dancing alone for long.

For the full listing of every party, every day throughout the year, our party calendar is essential reading.

Playa d'en Bossa beach La skimal

Playa d'en Bossa beach

Become a beach bum

Where do we even begin? Ibiza has so many beautiful beaches to hang out on for the day, it’s impossible to pick a favourite. However, they do all have their own vibe and energy. So knowing what you want to be surrounded by as you catch the rays is the best place to start.

For vibes, Cala Conta is a winner. Its famed restaurant, Sunset Ashram, often has DJs, whose tracks will entice you inside to party. Playa d’en Bossa is much the same, but being the longest stretch of sand on the island in the party hub, temptation is at its peak here. This beach is filled with post-night and pre-night partiers, so conversations - don’t expect them all to make sense - can be easily struck up.

Cala Gracio is easy to reach from San Antonio and comes with a nice, chilled attitude. It's also worth staying on here for the sunset spectacle.

The bonus of being unattached is that you can eat wherever you fancy. There’s no compromise on style, location, or price to make someone else happy. Ibiza has hundreds of incredible spots to dine, and so we couldn’t possibly list them all here. However, our handy guide to all things restaurants should become your essential Ibiza food bible.

It’s not just restaurants that come in every flavour, you can also grab a drink and decide on the best backdrop for you. For cocktails with live music, the island has a full schedule of entertainment. If you want a moment by yourself with the best show in town, our guide to sunset bars on Ibiza has the finest viewpoints. Who needs friends with views like these?

A little reminder that it's also worth taking a look through our events calendar, and seeing what might take your fancy, and where you’d feel comfortable going it alone. Comedy shows, live music, tours, and cinema nights, plus much more happening throughout the summer and beyond.
