The beach

Below the splendid promenade, the main beach of Santa Eulalia is an extremely good, long, wide beach of fine, white sand drawn from the sea. The waters are clean and shallow, safe for children and inviting for less confident swimmers

You will find a wide range of facilities on the beach as well as along the promenade. In the shade of palm trees, passing flowering bushes, an old water mill and a fountain, enjoy a stroll to the beach Playa del Rio at the river mouth at the south end of Santa Eulalia; or take a stroll to the beautiful marina at the north end of the promenade.

The main beach of Santa Eulalia is entirely smoke-free in a bid to keep the sands pristine for all who visit it. There are water sports and boat trips available from the nearby marina, see the link above.

Between the white sand, the well-facilitated promenade and sparkling clean waters, Santa Eulalia beach has the ultimate holiday getaway atmosphere.

The beach

The Playa del Rio de Santa Eulalia is a broad beach with fine, light-coloured sand and good facilities at the south end of the promenade, a lovely ten-minute stroll from the centre. It is situated at the mouth of the only river on Ibiza, hence the name.

The seabed is shallow and safe for children and the water usually calm. There are nice loungers with covers for reasonable prices. A water sport centre offers a broad choice of water sports including the always popular pedalos as well as paddle boards and kayaks.

Several restaurants line the beach and the promenade, and more are to be found in the neighbouring streets. There are proper beach clubs as well as more budget options, the restaurants in the hotels along the promenade are also well worth a visit.

A small footbridge takes you to the neighbouring suburb of Siesta on the other side of the river.

Spotlight tip

Take a walk along the river, where a meandering path lined with flowering bushes and tropical plants leads to the medieval bridge below the church.

Caló de s'Alga

Location: In the suburb Siesta at the southern end of Santa Eulalia, below the Grand Hotel Palladium Santa Eulalia
Facilities: Promenade, loungers, shower (turned off to save water), beach kiosk, restaurant (in the Grand Hotel Palladium), dixi toilet, dog-friendly beach nearby
Size: 110 metres long, 10 metres wide
Getting there: On foot or bicycle from Santa Eulalia (a 25-minute walk from the town centre) or Siesta. From the south end of the promenade, pass the footbridge and follow the coastal path, with a small detour through a residential area, and the paved promenade leading along the rocky coast up to the beach. Or come by bus or car from other resorts. Parking nearby is possible in the small streets above the beach.

The beach

A small beach located in the suburb of Siesta that is mainly used by the residents of the nearby apartment complexes.

Es Caló de s'Alga beach is a narrow strip of light-coloured sand surrounded by rocky coastline. In summer, there are a few sun loungers for hire and a small, popular beach kiosk for snacks and drinks.

On the way from Santa Eulalia you will pass a small dog-friendly beach. It only has seaweed and no sand, but dog-friendly beaches are rare on the island and so dog owners like to use it for a swim with their four-legged friends.

The paved promenade on the way to the beach is very pretty, with many benches, some under shady roofs, inviting you to linger and enjoy the wonderful views of the town and the beaches of Santa Eulalia in the background.

Beach bars and restaurants

There are many amazing restaurants in Santa Eulalia, with the town holding a well earned reputation as one of the cultural and gastronomic centres of Ibiza.

Along the long, palm tree-fringed promenade, you'll find a wide choice of dining options for every budget. These range from kiosks selling snacks and drinks to tapas bars and restaurants serving Mediterranean and international food.

Santa Eulalia is also home to what is probably the island's highest concentration of ice cream parlours! Towards the south end of the promenade, along the beach Playa del Rio, there are more exclusive restaurant options.

In the elegant marina, you can dine al fresco on warm summer evenings when the whole marina is lit with sparkling lights, and holidaymakers stroll past the exclusive yachts and small stands selling jewellery and other souvenirs.

The whole town is buzzing with a contagious holiday vibe during the summer season. However, it also doesn't sleep during the winter months, when the international residents enjoy the winter sun on the terraces of the restaurants. Most restaurants stay open all year.
