Lissy Lü in real life | The first of the private parties

Misadventures in clubland. 21 to 26 May.

Top raver, booth infiltrator and our very own AM to PM girl, Lissy Lübeck is back on Ibiza for summer 2024, which means another weekly serving of misadventures in clubland. Here, Lissy shares her thoughts, experiences and inner musings direct from the dancefloor.

A year older, perhaps. But a year wiser? Nah.

If you heard it from anybody else, you'd dismiss it as hyperbole, but Lissy Lü's real life is like that... Partying as a profession is a hard life, but somebody's got to do it!

The first of the private parties

21 to 26 May

Tuesday

After a speedy recovery following a heavy night at Pacha, a group of us from Ibiza Spotlight were invited down to Playa d'en Bossa’s, Ushuaïa-owned Ammos Greek restaurant, a beachside spot perched between the hotel and Hard Rock.

We were treated to some delicious refreshing cocktails, tried its taster menu and even watched some traditional plate smashing and a special dance performance. You gotta love a free press dinner! Yummy, authentic food and vibes all round.

Wednesday

Wednesday was a busy one for the clubbing team, as we went from a day of hard graft at theHUB, straight to Hï Ibiza. This time, not for a night out, but to conduct a very important interview with Patrick Topping.

Talking all things about his 2024 residency, we covered his Trick takeover which replaces FISHER for four weeks, parenthood and what he gets up to outside of clubbing hours. Keep an eye out on our magazine page for this one coming soon.

With a quick change of clothes into something a little more fancy, we headed back to the east coast for an all-inclusive, Pacha night out.

A hack that I can’t recommend enough, if you’re looking to indulge in a delicious dinner and boujee pre-drinks, then booking dinner spots of Pacha's El Restaurante and taking advantage of its "eat your tickets" deal will not only save you money, but guarantee a great night out.

Specialising predominantly in sushi and raw fish dishes, it is here that you will also find a DJ, open kitchen and, very often, the DJs playing in the club chilling out before their set. It’s quite the experience.

Friday

If you’re a regular reader of my diary, then you’ll know that my flatmate Lucy Jane is also a resident DJ at O Beach.

On Friday, which is known to be the busiest day at the day club, she bagged the peak time slot of 18:00 to 20:00 on the decks at Pool Party, which also happened to coincide with one of the venues daily jaw-dropping shows.

Pool Party | O Beach Ibiza

Reaping the benefits of Lucy's drinks tokens, a perfect people watching spot from the booth and chatting to random people in the sunshine (including Wayne Lineker, natch), we ended up staying until close, dancing, letting loose and in total awe of the insane shows that kept on coming.

I even managed to capture another viral video: a lady in the crowd who was having the time of her life and singing every lyric to every song. She was a true queen.

Sunday

After a chilled day at the Palm Star Hotel lounging by the pool, just as a Sunday should be spent, it was here that a girl informed us about a villa party that evening. As luck would have it, we knew the guy who's birthday it was, so we managed to weasel our way onto the exclusive guest list.

Planning on having a chilled evening, it was a quick turn in fortunes once we decided to attend our first villa party of the summer. It was the rumours of Mason Collective and Richy Ahmed playing that did it for us.

Turns out, it was actually James from Solardo and some other familiar faces from the scene on the decks.

Arriving around 21:00, we decided to head early so we could call it at a reasonable hour. The free bar and basement club were too good to miss out on, and before we knew it, it was 04:00. Another Lissy whopper in the locker.

The highlight for me was when Michael Ward (Jamie from Top Boy) casually strolled in. I was starstruck to say the least.

Restaurant of the week

After swinging by San Jordi market on Saturday, we decided to take our first visit of the year to Sa Caleta for a spot of lunch and some much needed vitamin D.

Known for its stunning beachside restaurant, vibrant orange cliffs and clear blue waters, I forgot just how picturesque this spot is. Luckily for us, it wasn’t too busy either. Give it a few months though!

I had my first full dip in the Med of 2024, and us girls indulged in some fresh meats and fish for lunch. It was truly divine.

Whisper from the dancefloor

Anyone who has been to Pikes this summer, will already have noticed some changes. Namely, that the Sunset Terrace no longer has music and the pre-Freddies action has now been moved to Plaza Mayor.

Well, straight from the horse's mouth, there will be some more changes coming soon...

Tune of the week

Sem Jacobs & Tagmann | Blue Berries | FUNKiMAN | 10 May

This release comes from another blossoming underground act from The Netherlands, Sem Jacobs and Tagmann.

After their ground-breaking debut release on PIV last year with Jiggy Jerry - a track I’ve rinsed in all my sets, and for sure the ones yet to come. This will definitely be making it into my upcoming Amnesia sets.

First heard at Amnesia's Opening Party by Capriati, and played by Carola at Destino Music On last week, it’s beginning to become one of those songs that the crowds are going crazy for. With a Latina vocal and catchy B-line, it's definitely a contender for song of the summer.
