Cinemas
All year round cinemas on the island show new releases and classics also in the original language, which are very popular with island residents.
The multi-screen Cine Multicines in Ibiza Town is the largest cinema on the island, with all the main screenings in Spanish. They also show some movies in their original language, click on the movie and search through the days and for the cinema 'Eivissa' (the others are on Mallorca). A large kiosk offers drinks and snacks as well as the usual popcorn (note that Spanish popcorn is salty rather than sweet).
The Cine Regio in San Antonio is like a movie theatre from the good old days, with one large screening room decked out with red velvet seats, a gallery and an old-style curtain that opens before each film. Once a week they offer one or two blockbuster movies in their original language with Spanish subtitles - and the prices are a real bargain! On the first floor there is also a small kiosk selling drinks and snacks.
The cultural centre Teatro España in Santa Eulalia also shows some of the latest movies on a screen over the main stage, one of them always in original language with subtitles in Spanish. Drinks, popcorn and chocolate are also available.
The movie schedules can be found by clicking the links above (look out for V.O.S.E – Versión Original con Subtítulos en Español) or take a look at our events calendar, where many of the showings are listed.
Outdoor film screenings
In summer, there are many open-air film screenings across Ibiza, with new movies and film classics in their original language versions with Spanish subtitles. On balmy summer evenings, there's nothing like being outdoors and enjoying a movie under the stars.
Cinema Paradiso Ibiza brings outdoor screenings of cult classics to various locations across the island. A big comfy bean bag is included in the price, plus, a complimentary drink and popcorn. Due to high demand, it’s advised to purchase tickets online in advance.
In partnership with the town halls of San José and Santa Eulalia, Cinema Paradiso also offers free outdoor screenings at Cala Llonga beach, in Sant Jordi and the Cala de Bou auditorium in San Antonio Bay. For the latest Cine A La Fresca schedule, check their social media pages. The entrance is free, but do come early, as places are limited.
And in the months of July and August, there are free open-air film screenings in their original version with Spanish subtitles in different locations in the San José municipality, the mentioned ones in Sant Jordi and San Antonio Bay in collaboration with Cinema Paradiso, and other ones.
Furthermore, also in July and August, they organise a short film festival in the beautiful tiny village of San Agustín.
