Staff picks: Jo's five parties to look forward to in 2023

Our freelance contributor chooses her party calendar highlights.

Ready and raring to go raving, my 2023 season on Ibiza is going to be an on-off one (damn you Brexit!). With my days on the island limited, I plan on making every party count. No duds, no filler.

The programme of clubbing adventures is fierce as ever with long-standing residents and first season disruptors. In true Ibiza fashion, every party is as unmissable as the next.

Narrowing my choices down to just five must-see parties of the summer was hard. I'm not one to shy away from a challenge, so let's go.

Woomoon | Cova Santa | every Sunday

Almost any party taking place at Cova Santa is an attractive prospect in my eyes.

However, there is something truly magical about a trip to Woomoon. The artisan craft stalls, imaginative performers and serene music, all backdropped to breathtaking San José hillside. Need I go on?

No matter the selectors on-hand, you are guaranteed to become completely lost in a whimsical whirl of Deep House and Melodic Techno and I will gladly throw myself amongst it all.

The crowd is free-spirited and expressive by nature. Quite honestly, I'll take any excuse to dig out my best boho garms. For a slice of authentic Ibiza clubbing doused in fanciful hippy style, Woomoon is my go-to. MORE INFO

Sasha & John Digweed | Franky Wah presents SHÈN Ibiza | Club Chinois | 18 June

From an old favourite to a new dazzler. UK tastemaker Franky Wah's artistic endeavour SHÈN Ibiza is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated arrivals of summer.

Sasha & John Digweed come together for one of their legendary back-to-back sets for the opening party on 18 June, my birthday of all days! Sadly, I'll miss this one but I can count on the Ibiza Spotlight club team to party on my behalf.

Lucky for me, Franky Wah has pulled out all the stops and woven the likes of Hot Since 82, Sorely and Miss Monique throug the line-ups. Alongside the pristine visual and audio production of Club Chinois, this will elevate the clubbing experience to another level.

Loco Dice | The Martinez Brothers | Hï Ibiza | 20 June

Effortlessly cool and always down for a full-force fiesta, The Martinez Brothers know their way around a naughty set. And in the epic high-tech environment of Hï Ibiza, it's going to go off!

Calling on a brethren of bad-ass selectors every week, TSHA, Rossi, and Chris Stussy immediately land on my radar. Of course, not forgetting Paco Osuna who'll take charge in the Club Room serving up the kind of dark grooves that just hit different.

If the Bronx Bros' back-to-back with Loco Dice at Hï Ibiza's Opening Party, The Signal, was anything to go by, then you’ll know where to find me when Tuesday night rolls around.

HAAi | Solomun +1 | Pacha | 16 July

In my opinion, HAAi's DJ sets are certifiably mind-blowing. When the Solomun +1 line-up announcement dropped, so did my jaw. Underground figurehead Solomun has entrusted her to join him in the booth, extending his invitation for 16 July.

Rivalling HAAi's enigmatic live presence are her immaculate productions, which are both simultaneously intricate and powerful. Baby We're Ascending, the title track of HAAi's debut album, was one that dominated my Spotify Wrapped in 2022.

If only I could be so lucky to hear this sonic masterpiece live on Pacha's dancefloor, it would honestly make my summer. MORE INFO | BUY TICKETS

Ben Hemsley Pool Party | Ibiza Rocks | from 6 August

I learned of Ben Hemsley's love for Ibiza whilst interviewing him around the release of his Golden Buddha EP. In his debut season, Kettama, LF System and Jodie Harsh are amongst the list of top tier selectors joining him at Ibiza Rocks.

In a career already full of achievements, the Geordie lad's Ibiza Rocks residency is stacking up to be his biggest milestone yet. And dare I say it, a little Trance never hurt anybody. Especially Trance with a Balearic twist, as we've seen from Ben Hemsley's recent portfolio.

Pure Ibiza vibes. Bring on August. MORE INFO | BUY TICKETS
