The spectacular beach of Cala Vadella

A charming place beyond the pines.

WHERE AND WHAT?

To reach the dreamy cove of Cala Vadella, you'll snake through pine-tree-lined winding mountain roads until you turn a corner, when this lovely beach and its sparkling waters reveal themselves just before the final descent. You'll see greenery, mountains, the white-painted buildings of the resort and in summer, legions of bobbing white boats dotted on the surface of the water.

WHY GO?

Peace within beautiful natural surroundings are the main selling points of this beach, with its fine white sand, shallow waters, ideal for bathing and a lovely laid-back feel. It's ideal for families and well protected from the elements, being a natural harbour with the additional protection of a sea wall to limit waves and keep out jellyfish.

THINGS TO DO

This is really a place to come and unwind and although it's pretty popular at summer's height, it offers a real away-from-it-all feel. A small number of excellent places to eat serving the freshest local fish and seafood will keep hunger at bay and you can browse the small clothing boutiques there. For the more active, there are pedaloes and a diving school. Do remember to take your snorkel.

HOW TO GET THERE

Going by car is the best way to get here or you could get the small bus from San José. Due to its slight remoteness, there is no taxi rank, so book at least an hour ahead. For more information, see our Cala Vadella beach page.
