Forn Can Bufi

Traditional baking with Ibizan soul.

From its origins at the Can Sopes farm in the village of San Miguel, Forn Can Bufí has grown into an island institution.

In 2025, the family bakery - founded by Juan Bufí and Josefa Ramón - celebrates its 25th anniversary, the culmination of a dream that started 50 years ago.

Their original workshop still operates at the founding site, where the enticing scent of freshly baked bread or spearmint and fresh cheeses wafts in the air.

Even with the introduction of modern technology, the company's aim is, and always has been, to preserve the original flavour of the baked goods that have made Ibizan gastronomy so special.

As the culmination of these efforts, Forn Can Bufí has been awarded the “Ibiza Sabors Prize” in recognition of its commitment to the use of local produce.

Timeless recipes

The bakery safeguards generations of Ibizan baking heritage. Typical confections include

  • Flaó – the iconic Ibizan cake traditionally prepared for Easter. Made with cheeses and eggs, its distinctive flavour stems from the use of spearmint
  • Orelletes – these delicate, sugar-dusted pastries have a mild flavour and a spongy texture along with a hint of citrus fruit
  • Pan payés – the island's signature sourdough bread
  • Magdalenas – local almonds are the star ingredient in these muffins. Mixed with cinnamon, lemon, fresh eggs, and other ingredients - crunchy on the outside and creamy within, they're an explosion of flavour and history!
  • Buñuelos and panellets (associated with All Saints’ Day, on 1 November).
  • Macarrones and cocas de San Juan (for the midsummer celebration known as Las Fiestas de San Juan)
  • Two Christmas highlights: salsa and besquit, two of its most iconic and successful seasonal products.
  • Greixonera (a creamy, spiced bread pudding with a custard-like texture.)
